One question I get asked a lot is "where is the best place to buy wool in Milton Keynes?"
As a beginner, I made a LOT of mistakes, and if you are starting out it can be quite costly. Therefore I thought I would list a number of places in Milton Keynes which sell good quality cheap wool which is great for beginner projects!
Poundland - Yes you read it correctly! Poundland is excellent for wool for when you are starting out. They have some outstanding three for two promotions throughout the year which means that for £2 you can get three 50g balls of wool. They have a range of colours and textures, but you have to keep checking back as they change stock regularly.
The Wool Shop in Newport Pagnell (http://www.the-wool-shop.com) - great selection of wools and crochet accessories. Great store, and helpful staff which will guide you to the right items.
HCS Crafts in Stony Stratford (http://www.hcscrafts.com) - great selection of wool available online for purchasing.
Threads and Patches (http://www.threadsandpatches.co.uk) - Not just for wool, but all your crafting needs. Just down in Fenny Stratford.
Poundstretchers - Another secret wool heaven. They have a lot of nice wool available. Bit more expensive than Poundland, but great for when you have progressed from your basic stage and are more confident with your projects.
Hobbycraft - They have a great selection of wool and lots of promotions. It is worth signing up for the Hobbycraft card as the emails have lots of wool promotions and vouchers.
Aldi - yep the discount superstore has an Arts and Crafts event about three times a year where wool is sold. They also sell wool online in packs which is great value.
Happy crochet time everyone!
